1. How long have you been doing CrossFit? What got you started?
I started in August 2020. At that point I have been contemplating for a while, since I had 0 motivation for working out alone in the gym. Keren buying me a membership was what pushed me over the edge.
2. What aspect of our core values of authentic, driven, and inclusive do you relate to the most? Why?
The authentic value really resonates with me. There is 0 ego in the gym, everyone is always super friendly and genuinely invested in your success.
3. What do you most look forward to when you come to the gym?
I love the energy in the gym- we enjoy together in the fun workouts, we support each other in the not-so-fun ones. Doesn’t matter how tough the workout is, the spirit is always high at the gym.
4. What is your favourite memory at All Level CrossFit?
During last year’s open (I think), I was the last person to finish the workout. I was really struggling with the headstand push ups and was really close to calling it quits 😅. It was a 6:30pm workout, and we had a full house. There was a wall of people behind my back cheering me on, which helped me to grind it out and finish the workout.
5. What goals have you set for yourself in CrossFit that you’ve successfully achieved? What are your current goals?
I think my goal has always been consistency. It’s a work in progress, so I think it’s both something I have achieved and look to improve. I do workout regularly, and been doing CrossFit for 5+ years, but I fluctuate, especially around holidays and after vacations. I want my fitness journey to be a 365 days a year thing, not just when it’s convenient.
6. What advice do you have for someone who’s on the fence about starting CrossFit?
Perfect is the enemy of good. I’m usually an all or nothing kind of person, so sometimes it’s hard for me to pick up something I’m not good at. Prime example of that is overhead mobility- I was afraid to look silly at first, when I couldn’t do overhead squats or had to use an empty bar. It’s ok not to be great at something at first. No one is born great.
7. How has your experience at All Level CrossFit improved your life outside of the gym?
I think I’m generally a happier person when I’m surrounded by likeminded people. When I’m in a high-energy, motivating environment, it reflects on me. Working out first thing in the morning and getting that boost of energy just makes my day 100% better.
