1. How long have you been doing CrossFit? What got you started?
I’ve been doing CrossFit since 2011. My darling husband dragged me to my first class in Toronto and it kicked my butt.
2. What aspect of our core values of authentic, driven, and inclusive do you relate to the most? Why?
I am so proud of how inclusive this gym is. We have athletes with such a wide range of abilities and I love how absolutely anyone can join. I think being inclusive is so important to making anyone feel welcome. It can be intimidating as a sport and having a completely judgement free space is essential to me.
3. What do you most look forward to when you come to the gym?
Catching up with the familiar faces of the 9:30am class. Who doesn’t love a bit of banter to get the day started
4. What is your favourite memory at All Level CrossFit?
I have a few! I’ve been brought back recently to the memories of bringing my kids in with me when they were babies, just trying to squeeze a workout where I could with a toddler and a baby. I see the amazing moms in the morning classes now with their babies and I admire them so much. Then I think to myself… “wait, I did that too!”.
5. What goals have you set for yourself in CrossFit that you’ve successfully achieved?
Well, I achieved my goal of kipping pull ups way back in the day *pre-kids*, but due to a broken wrist ,I never managed to get back on the pull up bar. Plus as an RMT I have to keep my money makers callus free!
Double unders were a challenge to string together but I seem to have gotten that one figured out.
What are your current goals?
Just to stay consistent. Keep moving. I’m hoping one day to be able to do a pull up again which is something I’ve only recently considered as being an option again.
6. What advice do you have for someone who’s on the fence about starting CrossFit?
Just show up. Come for the fitness, stay for the community. Scale appropriately so that you’re not in too much pain to come back!
7. How has your experience at All Level CrossFit improved your life outside of the gym?
It has enabled me to continue in my physically demanding profession, pain free. Also having my kids see me show up to the gym, working out and doing hard things, is an invaluable lesson for them.
