What got you started in CrossFit? How did you hear about it? Since my schedule got busier, I wanted to find something that would allow me to get everything I looked for in a workout with minimal time commitment per day. I used to play a lot of organized sports but it got harder and harder to be able to have a consistent schedule. I also struggled with pushing myself when I just went to the gym by myself. So, I did some research about Crossfit and thought it would be the perfect fit!
What is your favourite part about coming to the gym? My favorite part is competing against myself. I always come in with a certain goal for each workout. Whether it is a weight, a movement or a time target, I love trying to compete every time.
What is your favourite CrossFit movement? Least favourite? I guess I “love” running. I don’t actually enjoy it as much as you would think but I am used to it :P. As for true Crossfit movement, I enjoy burpees and box jumps… I guess my favorite would be the combination of both, burpee box jump overs! As for my least favorite, DEFINITELY Overhead squats. It’s such a hard combination of balance and strength… working on it though…
What are your goals in CrossFit? Initially, my goals were to lose weight and get fitter. Now, I appreciate better my weaknesses in mobility and flexibility and am really looking to improve in those.
How do you explain your newfound obsession with CrossFit? For me, it’s a platform that allows me to always test myself. I’ve always been very competitive in everything I try to do and CrossFit is a discipline where you can always get better.
What advice do you have for someone who is thinking of trying CrossFit? Just try it! It will change how you view personal fitness and completely crush the obstacles you thought were holding you back. Also, if you are sore after a workout, stretch a bit and get back to it the next day!
What does CrossFit mean to you? Crossfit allows me to challenge myself and improve daily. It’s the perfect way for me to grow my strength, determination and motivation. It has become a true passion and obsession.
How has CrossFit helped you improve your life outside of the gym? Crossfit has allowed me to feel part of a community that has been very welcoming and supportive. It has also pushed me to improve my lifestyle, learn more about my body and nutrition, overall take much better care of my health and be much more confident in my own abilities. For that, I will always be very thankful forALCF coaches and crew!
