ALL LEVELER OF THE MONTH--NICK H
  1. How long have you been doing CrossFit? What got you started?

I started CrossFit in 2018. I’ve started and stuck with it because of some of my amazing friends. Oh! And I can’t forget to mention the ol’ ball and chain, the reason I’m not allowed to leave, my WOD wife and birthday twin, Miss Emily Ouellet.

  1. What aspect of our core values of Authentic, Driven, and Inclusive do you relate to the most? Why?

Inclusive. I’ve always found the community at All Level CrossFit to be welcoming and supportive. Both staff and gym members have made me feel comfortable in being myself. Diversity is something that is celebrated at our gym and I’ve always taken great comfort in that. That’s why I have always been a loyal member of All Level CrossFit.

  1. What do you most look forward to when you come to the gym?

While I do look forward to a getting in a good workout, my favourite part of the gym is doing so alongside my friends. Getting encouraged by and being able to cheer on my friends is a huge part of what makes me so excited to go to the gym.

  1. What is your favourite memory at All Level CrossFit?

It’s hard to pinpoint exactly one memory but if I had to choose, I would say after “The Ocho” competition when a few of us were hanging out, catching up, and playing games together in the parking lot. The way everything has been lately has made it so difficult to spend some quality time together. Sometimes, it’s good to connect when you aren’t pouring sweat and exhausted two minutes into an 18 minute AMRAP but nowadays, I sure will take it!

  1. What goals have you set for yourself in CrossFit that you’ve successfully achieved? What are your current goals?

When I initially started CrossFit, my main goal was to lean out and get back into a consistent fitness routine. Things have definitely changed since then and now I’m focusing on lifting heavier weights and getting better at my gymnastics movements. I also use the gym as an outlet to destress and get ready for my day. So while it is always nice surprising myself when I hit a PR, I want to take a more holistic approach to my goals by also focusing on my nutrition, mental health, and personal well-being.

  1. What advice do you have for someone who’s on the fence about starting CrossFit?

Do what moves you. CrossFit is a form of exercise that is so varied it keeps me engaged. When I would try going to a regular gym, I had so much difficulty with staying consistent because it just wouldn’t hold my interest. With CrossFit, there are so many things to work on from gymnastics to cardio based movements to Olympic weightlifting; there’s always something to practice and every day is different. The only way you’ll find out if it moves you the same way it moves me is if you try it out for yourself!

  1. How has your experience at All Level CrossFit improved your life outside of the gym?

Overall, I’ve had such a wonderful experience at All Level CrossFit! I have made some of my closest friends there and I’ve learned so much about myself along the way. While I still have a lot to work on, being a member at All Level CrossFit has made me more confident in my work and school life. I’ve also gotten a lot better with time management and I carry myself differently than I would’ve 4 years ago. I’ve been pushed to do better. I’ve been pushed to be better. And I’ve been pushed to feel better. I’m looking forward to the future growth that I have in store and I can’t thank everyone at All Level CrossFit enough. Love you ALL!
