November All Leveler of the Month–Nathan Bracken!

  1. What got you started in CrossFit?  How did you hear about it?

-Back in December, I received a golden ticket from my friend Diego which got me my foundations classes as well as a membership for the month of January. He had been going to the gym for years and tried getting me to come on multiple occasions. So I finally gave in and drank the KoolAid so to speak.

  1. What is your favourite part about coming to the gym?

-My favourite part about coming to the gym is the community. What kept me coming back for more was that feeling of a team workout which I had been use to growing up playing minor hockey. Our gym has an incredible atmosphere where everyone pushes each other and supports them not only at the gym but outside as well. Also, knowing that I’m going to get a great workout once I leave is a huge driving force. I’m someone who prior to joining had not stepped foot inside a gym for years. Now I can say you can find me there 6 days a week.

  1. What is your favourite CrossFit movement?  Least favourite?

– This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that has seen me in the gym but my favourite CrossFit movement is the handstand walks. My least favourite I’d say would be double unders

  1. What are your goals in CrossFit?

-My CrossFit goals are to better my performance everytime I step into the gym. Since joining I am confident to say that I have made tremendous gains in my fitness and lifestyle choices thanks to the knowledge of not only the trainers but the members as well. My future goals are to continue to push my limits and focusing on my weakenesses in order to become a better all around athlete.

  1. How do you explain your newfound obsession with CrossFit?

-Mental illness! Rule number 1 of CrossFit…tell everyone you CrossFit.

  1. What advice do you have for someone who is thinking of trying CrossFit?

-Don’t wait like I did. Come check us out and dont be shy. It can be intimidating at first but once you start feeling more comfortable with the movements you start to really enjoy it. I can honestly say regarding what the workout is, I look forward to coming to the gym each and every day.

  1. What does CrossFit mean to you?

-CrossFit to me is a community of people looking to better themselves with each effort put in. Its showing up to every workout or event and feeling like a family supporting and pushing you to be better.

  1. How has CrossFit helped you improve your life outside of the gym?

-Outside of the gym CrossFit has helped me in multiple ways. As a physical education teacher, it has given me the tools I can pass onto my students in an effort to help them with their fitness goals. It has given me more power when im on the ice playing and coaching hockey and it has completely changed my lifestyle. I love having more energy each day which allows me to accomplish more.
