1. What got you started in CrossFit?  How did you hear about it?
Linda C. gave me and my daughter, Sam a golden ticket in January 2018 and I thought it would be a great way to get back in shape and spend time with Sam.
2.  What is your favourite part about coming to the gym?
I really like the atmosphere (love that there are no mirrors), the people, the coaches, just about everything!  I love that every day is different and that I always leave the gym kinda proud that I was able to finish.
3.  What is your favourite CrossFit movement?  Least favourite?
Favorite would be wallballs and rowing, oh and I also have a new found love for box jumps lol .  Least favorite is of course burpees.  But I’m getting to like them more.
4.  What are your goals in CrossFit?
My goal is to keep it up.  Keep coming to the gym.  Keep feeling as good as I feel.  There’s nothing better than being my age and feeling good.  Physically and mentally.
How do you explain your newfound obsession with CrossFit?
I have been pretty active my whole life, participating in many sports and just trying to stay somewhat fit as I age.  I struggled along the way for sure with aches and pains and spurts of lack of motivation.  CrossFit for me is  the whole package.  My mobility and strength haven’t been as good as they are now in a long, long time.   That makes me happy.
6.   What advice do you have for someone who is thinking of trying CrossFit?
I think they just need to go to a class and see what it is.  You’ll be hooked!  It’s for everyone of every age, size and ability.  It really is.
7.   What does CrossFit mean to you?
CrossFit has really become a part of my life in a short time.  It makes me happy.  Doesn’t matter if I go to a class after work,  in the early morning or on the weekend, I love it.  It means feeling good, feeling strong, feeling able.  Physically and mentally.
8.   How has CrossFit helped you improve your life outside of the gym?
The other day a co-worker asked me why I wasn’t using my stand up desk anymore (which my employer bought me a few years ago due to arthritis in my back and not being able to sit all day).  I hadn’t even thought about it, but the answer is because I don’t need to anymore – CrossFit.  Not more stand up desk, no more pain pills, no more chiropractor.    That makes me happy.

We started training at All Level during the Toronto Maple Leaf’s off season this year and we are thrilled with our results! We are both stronger, fitter and healthier. WODs feel like personal training sessions, although they are in a group setting with a healthy dose of competition to keep you pushing. The environment is positive and the coaches are skilled, supportive and motivating.

We also took our training to the next level when we stared working with Corie and her Nutrition RX’d program. We have both lost a ton of weight and we feel empowered to make better food choices. We would strongly recommend All Level and Nutrition RX’d to anyone who wants to lose weight or just take their training to the next level!

Jenn – Boot Camp

It’s hard to believe our 8-week boot camp is almost over! I cannot express enough how much I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Coaches Claire, Danielle, Chad and all the ladies in our group.

I have felt so welcomed and part of your CrossFit family ever since I walked through the doors and met Jarred & Claire and told them how anxious I was to join. They both immediately eased my fears and made me feel like I could do it – and they were right!

Claire is such an amazing coach and person. She is a wonderful leader with great energy who inspires me to work harder and to continually improve and challenge myself. She has done something that no one else has ever done-she’s made me look forward to working out!

All of the coaches have been so accepting, positive and motivating – which is why I’ve enjoyed the classes so much-it makes all this hard physical work much easier to take! I also love how every movement has a scaled option and that I’m not made to feel “less than” when I’m having trouble with the original movement and have to scale down.  This is so helpful for someone like me who is starting from a very low fitness level – it made the classes and the movements much less intimidating.

I have worked out at other places with instructors who thought they were motivating us by yelling at us to work harder and faster and who would even try to make us feel badly for asking for modifications or if we couldn’t keep up with everyone else’s pace. That backfires though, as it really just ends up with us trying to keep up to a fitness level we’re not ready for or sacrificing correct form, which can lead to injuries-and in my case, made me not want to go back!

The coaching team at All Level CrossFit provides a much better environment that motivates and inspires its members. Encouraging us to go a little deeper or a little longer in such positive ways helps us to want to do better – not because we’re shamed into doing it, but because if you believe we can do it, that makes us believe it too. These may seem like small things – positive words of encouragement during a workout, showing scaled options or just a quick high five – but these little things are the reasons why I want to continue on my fitness journey with your CrossFit family.

All in all, joining the boot camp is the best gift that I have ever given myself, and I look forward to the next one in January.
